Carbon Monoxide News - August 2, 2012

“If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door.” Milton Berle (1908-2002, bio link)

NOTE: Yesterday I brought up fire departments not being equipped with carbon monoxide monitors. This first news link underlines this problem. You will also note from other posted links today that financial help from a gas company in Canada and the U.S. Government via a Federal Grant are also providing funding support to upgrade or supply fire departments with the equipment needed for rescue or in providing safety alarms for citizens.

What role do you play in supporting your community? Your help may be all that is missing in an effort to save a life. Bob Dwyer, CSME Carbon Monoxide Safety

NOTE: The stock photo used in this link is a CO Experts Low Level Carbon Monoxide Alarm. It would be wonderful if these were indeed the alarms being purchased to give away in this grant funded project. These begin protection beginning  as low as 7 PPM of carbon monoxide. Usually the alarms given away in these projects are the U.L. 2034 Listed models that do not begin giving protection until 70 PPM of CO has been present for at least one hour and may take up to 4 hours before alarming, well after the fire department evacuation levels.
