Appliance back-drafting - discussion
I reviewed a discussion on whether combustion heating appliances would struggle at venting or back draft under various conditions. To seek the answers, one must test, always test. Without differential pressure testing of the space the appliances are in with reference to the space outside the room or building, you will keep on guessing, wondering; measurement is vital.

Testing the exhaust pressures of the venting gasses during various scenarios common to the building, mechanical room and appliances are also crucial for discovering the answer. Combustion gas measurements can change if building pressure influences interfere with combustion system pressures. A fully loaded combustion analyzer is crucial for discovery, otherwise guesswork rules the day, again.

We could discuss “what if’s” all day and night. Let’s get down to measurement and find out for sure.
