We discussed earlier how a building’s mechanical systems like clothes dryers, kitchen oven exhaust systems, built in vacuum cleaners and bath room exhausts individually or in combination can reverse Category I combustion systems. These can be over powering forces. These devices also include “whole house” or attic fans.

If combustion systems are already producing CO in concentrations enough to hurt someone and then struggle at venting, the danger increases; CO generation could increase and combustion gases will more likely get into breathable air.

It is vital when verifying the safety, integrity and compliance of a combustion system that a carbon monoxide gas sample be evaluated as well.
