Protect the unborn from CO poisoning.
Fetal hemoglobin has a much greater affinity for oxygen than an adult so that the developing fetus has adequate oxygen storage for normal healthy growth. Adult hemoglobin is known to have an affinity for carbon monoxide at 200 times greater than O2. Therefore the displacement of oxygen with CO in the fetus is greater still. It is vital that we protect the pregnant woman and her fetus from the lower levels of CO they may encounter. Be careful with those generators during power outages. Keep your baby and yourself safe.
