The Lyndhurst Fire Department is asking residents and building owners for their help in identifying the life span of their Carbon Monoxide(CO) alarms due to a spike in call volume… The fire department has surmised that most residents are unaware that their CO alarms have a life span and as a consequence, they have seen a drastic spike in their response to CO alarm activations which were confused by occupants for actual activations. A majority of responses that LFD went out for, 85 percent, have been found to have one of two outcomes: 1) a battery in need of replacement, or 2) an "End of Life" warning which could easily be confused by an occupant unaware of the feature for an actual activation indicating a presence of CO…
