The quality of combustion is quite dependent upon the quality of the fuels burned. In a structural fire there are many different types of materials and composites that are oxidized at various speeds. Hazardous gasses can be expected; be alerted to them early in the event.

A low level carbon monoxide health monitor might be the early warning device that alerts you at the beginning of an accidental fire in your home or building before the smoke alarm sounds.

In combustion, the fuel & air mixtures in heat always converts to carbon monoxide before more heat and flame temperatures accelerate the processing chemicals into carbon dioxide. If the air/fuel mixtures and temperatures of the flames are not in correct proportions and hot enough to generate complete combustion, carbon monoxide is an unwanted and deadly by-product. In structural fires, the air & fuel ratios and uncontrolled heat generation do not compliment complete combustion, and carbon monoxide and other poisonous gasses will rule the event.

Get notified early during an accidental fire. Get a low level carbon monoxide health monitor; one that can alert you to the levels of the poison as soon as it begins to develop. Levels between 10 and 25 parts per million (PPM) are good notification points as soon as the levels are reached, not after some mandatory delay in response.

The lowest U.L. 2034 & CSA 6.19 carbon monoxide alarm test point is:
- 70 PPM to 149 PPM –resist one hour, must alarm before 4 hours
Please read the alarm information on the packageand in the instructions. Know when your fire department and emergency responders begin wearing their breathing apparatus and what their civilian evacuation levels are for carbon monoxide; it may be before 70 PPM. It is for pregnant women, infants & children, the elderly and all people of vulnerable health. Bob Dwyer, CSME Carbon Monoxide Safety

Consider low level protection for carbon monoxide and smoldering fire detection problems; don't leave anyone behind.
