Red Cross - Disaster Relief to safely assist law enforcement, fire department, utility company, city, county and state authorities as repair and rebuilding moves forward. Bob Dwyer, CSME Carbon Monoxide Safety

Nationally, the Red Cross provides food and shelter to people affected by as many as 70,000 fires annually, or about one fire every eight minutes.

Prevent carbon monoxide poisoning to yourself and others. Measure carbon monoxide for safety and knowledge. The more you test the more you learn. Measurement is education at its best. Bob Dwyer, CSME Carbon Monoxide Safety

Fire fighters and all emergency responders should be wearing personal carbon monoxide protectors at all times when in service, and have breathing apparatus on or readily available. If they are denied a CO safety device, their health and lives are in jeopardy, as are the people they are trying to rescue. Let's be smart about this. These are our everyday, every moment heroes. Don't send them into danger without protection. If you are the chief, prevent needless tragedies you'll just feel crummy about later. Bob Dwyer

Consider low level protection for carbon monoxide and smoldering fire detection problems; don't leave anyone behind.
