Do not take a day off from protecting yourself and others
from carbon monoxide poisoning. This poison only takes a day off when all the
fires are out and I mean all of them. Since combustion rules our lives from
cooking, heating water, generating electricity, moving us on land, air and
water, keeping us warm when we are cold, and pleasuring us with mechanical
sports and in other ways, we know carbon monoxide doesn’t take a day off.

SAINT PAUL, MN – Each year about 50,000 people visit emergency rooms in the United States for CO poisoning, and more than 500 die each year from this silent, odorless, colorless gas. As part of Winter Hazard Awareness Week (November 5-9), the Minnesota Department of Commerce warns Minnesotans of the dangers of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning and to take steps to avoid this “silent killer.”
