Carbon Monoxide News - June 14, 2012

“Children are unpredictable. You never know what inconsistency they're going to catch you in next.” Franklin P. Jones (1908-1980, bio link)

Poisoning from carbon monoxide can go undetected though a person might be experiencing symptoms every day. This includes what is often called sea sickness on small boats. If you wore your personal CO monitor the next time you are on a boat that has a motor or generator or both, you may find yourself wearing that alarm on every trip. We are not all of equal health so it is vital we all have gainful knowledge about what CO is, how it is formed, how it gets to where it is breathed in and how we can reduce exposures.

Every day, every month and every year awareness associated with carbon monoxide increases as the diligence of study and collaboration of professionals also increases. As awareness increases, poisonings are prevented. Vigilant testing is required to replace guesswork, ignorance and what we might overlook

Consider low level protection for carbon monoxide and smoldering fire detection problems. A low level carbon monoxide monitor, alerted to sound off as low at 10 PPM of CO or lower, followed by source identification and the corrective steps to eliminate or reduce the foreseeable hazard before injury or death occurs to anyone is paramount in any poisoning prevention strategy.
