How much carbon monoxide are you in when in any motor vehicle?
Did you know that many people do not measure the air they breathe.
Did you know that many people do not measure the air they breathe.
After prevention there is no greater awareness than measurement.
Awareness leads to quick thinking. Measurement leads to quick action.
Are you in the know?
Do I know enough about carbon monoxide and carbon monoxide poisoning to justify never knowing how much is in the air I breathe every day, everywhere I go?”
There are some people who want to be notified of the presence of carbon monoxide at levels or concentrations as soon as the gas is present, at concentrations well below those that can instigate poor health symptoms but not be high enough levels to sound the CO alarm they own.
There are some people who do not want to push a button on their CO alarm to see what low, aggravating levels of the poison might be in their home, or anywhere.
The most recommended CO Alarm in U.S. is a high level alarm

A London Fire Brigade spokeswoman said: "We have had two males pronounced life extinct by London Ambulance Service. - "Two adult males, one adult female, one male child and one male infant have also been treated on site for carbon monoxide poisoning and taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service." - The windows of the house were left open on Sunday evening, while a gas engineer arrived to reconnect the gas to neighbouring houses. - Another neighbour said the residents had only been living in the house for three to four weeks. - He also said there was some renovation work carried out before the new tenants moved in…
Dog saves family from house fire in Boulder County, sheriff's office says
The Denver Channel
BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. – Problems for the family began earlier in the evening Friday when the power turned off in the home and wouldn't reset at the breaker box. Even though they tried, they weren't able to reach an electrician. - After falling asleep later that night, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said, their 14-year-old dachshund “Sam” began barking to get their attention. - Upon awakening, the owners of the home realized smoke was coming from somewhere inside the house as well as “significant heat” in the ceiling, according to the sheriff’s office. - The family call 911 and got out of the home uninjured. - The home had no working smoke detectors, so if it were not for Sam, “the fire might not have been detected until it was too late.” - The sheriff’s office recommends everyone check…

Blaze reduces $4.65M home to rubble (with video)
Gloucester Daily Times
The first crew of firefighters arrived on the scene at 11:31 – 11 minutes after receiving the first call, according to the Fire Department log. But Aptt. Fire Chief Eric Smith said that's simply the time it took firefighters to reach the house's location. - The home and its 7.9-acre property – Aptt also said there was an initial issue with getting water to the fire, adding firefighters had to lay some 2,000 feet of hose. The nearest hydrant is near the head of Two Penny Lane, at least a quarter mile from the house. - Smith said he'd like to look into whether the house included an automated alarm system, sprinklers or both. - "Besides smoke and CO (carbon monoxide) alarms, things like that are not bad to have," Smith said, "especially if a property is in an area where people know there is going to be a longer response time. That's something people really do need to consider."

Please Note: "Place a carbon monoxide alarm with a digital display on a seat in the motor vehicle when you are out driving in emergency snow conditions (or always for that specific). Harmful levels of carbon monoxide (CO) can penetrate inside a motor vehicle just due to prevailing winds and exhaust not moving away from the vehicle but under it. If you want to learn more about carbon monoxide, begin measuring it with a personal CO monitor everywhere you go." Bob Dwyer, CSME Carbon Monoxide Safety

What is in the air you are breathing right now?
What will you be doing today; walking into poison?
Who will be responsible for the air you breathe?
You may be the only person who can prevent your own poisoning.
We are all vulnerable to carbon monoxide exposure and poisoning.
Everyone has been poisoned by CO and will be poisoned again. The degree of the poisoning depends upon allowing yourself to be in a situation where someone else controls the air you breathe and the mechanisms for alarming notification.
Please read the alarm information on the package and in the instructions that come with the carbon monoxide alarm. Know that if it is a U.L. 2034 Listed product (or CSA 6.19 Listed), it is a high level alarm that has been tested to alarm no sooner than 70 PPM at the lowest (the alarm must resist for one hour when above this level) and when over 400 PPM before 15 minutes at the highest concentration, after resisting alarming for 4 minutes when over this level.
Know when your fire department and emergency responders begin wearing their breathing apparatus and what their civilian evacuation levels are for carbon monoxide; it may be as soon as the gas is present in your presence. Pregnant women, infants & children, people with heart & respiratory struggles, those suffering depression or chronic headaches and all people of vulnerable health should be alerted as soon as the gas begins to concentrate, around 10 PPM (parts per million) or lower.
You most likely need a low level carbon monoxide detector to sound off when carbon monoxide hazards are just beginning, not after you’ve been exposed to levels that make you have headaches, flu-like symptoms, increased tiredness, heart stresses or worse.
Do not take risks with carbon monoxide. Take responsibility for the air you breathe and the combustion systems you are responsible for. If you don’t do it for yourself, do it for others, unless you think $45.00, high level protection is good enough.
Help prevent injuries and deaths; don’t guess about carbon monoxide. Measure carbon monoxide for safety and knowledge. The more you test the more you learn. GET BUSY
Measurement is continuing education at its best. Bob Dwyer, CSME Carbon Monoxide Safety

Beef cattle feedlot settles with state in air pollution case
Idaho Business Review
A company that operates a beef cattle feedlot in southeastern Washington has reached a settlement with the state over a charge of failing to manage air pollution. - Idaho-based J.R. Simplot Co. agreed to pay a $5,000 fine and spend at least $30,000 to put asphalt on a road to keep trucks from kicking up dry manure and dust at its beef cattle feedlot north of Wallula. - The Washington Department of Ecology initially fined the company $50,000 for allowing small particles into the air. Some of them have been right in front of us for decades. Others are just now emerging. And more likely await discovery. - North Carolina government has flunked that course. Deliberately. - This state has a long history of giving lots of leeway to polluting industries, whether they make chemicals or chickens. Strict oversight doesn’t really happen here. Environmental agencies have too often taken industries’ word that their processes are safe and that they’re not polluting, and regulators have lacked the resources and clout to regularly test for compliance…
