Region’s improving air quality can help increase life expectancy Post-Tribune
The amount of particulate pollution in the Northwest Indiana region has continued to decline through the last decade, and recent studies show even slight decreases can increase quality of life.

When heat waves strike, plants are more interested in self-preservation than in removing pollution from the air, a study has found. Scientists from the Stockholm Environment Institute found that plants reduce their uptake of the harmful pollutant ozone in hot weather and drought conditions.
American Lung Association Launches 'State of the Air' App

The American Lung Association has come out with a new App, called 'State of the Air.' The app makes people aware of either ozone or particle pollution in the air. The user types in the zip code of the area they live in and it shows Today's Air Quality.

SAINT PAUL, MN – Each year about 50,000 people visit emergency rooms in the United States for CO poisoning, and more than 500 die each year from this silent, odorless, colorless gas. As part of Winter Hazard Awareness Week (November 5-9), the Minnesota Department of Commerce warns Minnesotans of the dangers of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning and to take steps to avoid this “silent killer.”
