The lowest U.L. 2034 & CSA 6.19 carbon monoxide alarm test point is:
- 70 PPM to 149 PPM – resist one hour, must alarm before 4 hours

Please read the alarm information on the package and in the instructions. Know when your fire department and emergency responders begin wearing their breathing apparatus and what their civilian evacuation levels are for carbon monoxide; it may be before 70 PPM. It is for pregnant women, infants & children, the elderly and all people of vulnerable health. Bob Dwyer, CSME Carbon Monoxide Safety

Education is all about AWARENESS:
Carbon monoxide poisoning awareness education should begin as soon as the child is talked to reasonably about fire and things that start fires. Additional classes or teaching units at all school age levels will help establish the knowledge base of CO poisoning prevention in the culture of our generations.

It is a best practice when all emergency service providers and those facilitating home health services are also required to have verification of a basic carbon monoxide safety course, and then credentials verifying annual continuing education achievements regarding carbon monoxide certifications in addition to their other mandatory classes.

Credentials would be complete when they all wore and used personal CO monitors on every building visit as well. CO safety education works best if your education never ends. Bob Dwyer, CSME Carbon Monoxide Safety; from, Preventing carbon monoxide poisoning in a community
